Kinoshita Lecture Award 2025
We are proud to announce that the 2025 Kinoshita Lecture Award from the National Foundation for Eye Research has been presented to Dr. John I. Clark (University of Washington).
This prestigious international award was established in 1989 in honour of Dr. Jin H. Kinoshita and is given for distinguished research that contributes to the understanding of the aetiology and prevention of cataract development.
Dr. Clark’s laboratory investigates the biophysics, chemistry, and biology of the eye lens, focusing on the structural and functional interactions among lens proteins, cytoskeletal elements, and membrane systems—all fundamental to maintaining long-term transparency and refractive integrity.
His pioneering quantitative approaches, including laser light scattering, electron microscopy, and Fourier/fractal analysis, have set enduring benchmarks in lens research.
We look forward to celebrating Dr. Clark’s contributions at the 10th International Conference on the Lens (ICL 2025) in Kona, Hawai‘i.
